Varicella is located all across the world in a variety of continents and climates. The link below provides the outline of the 2014 Sage meeting for the WHO concerning Varicella and the virus across several countries. MOst information is from 5 Selected countries the US, UK, France, Spain and Australia.
Here is a list of Various countries and the Chicken pox rates: Guinea Bissau 2000: 129/100,000 case, 50 times higher than US/UK India late 1970's: 52/100,000 cases resulted in death, 80% adults this is 20 times higher than US/UK death ratio Brazil 2008: Death Ratio 4/100,000 Nigeria in the 1970's: 14 deaths out of 2,153 hospital admissions Sri Lanka 2000 to 2001: 42/1000 death ratio The average of the number of vaccinations distributed worldwide every year from 2007 to 2011 is 37 million. Other parts of the world have much higher rates for Varicella than the United States and vaccinations are given to children in all of the following countries including, but not limited to the United States, Spain, Canada, Costa Rica, Germany, Greece, Korea, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Switzerland and Uruguay. Intemperate climates Varicella is more of a childhood disease,the most cases occurring during winter and spring. In tropical climates this tends to arise among adolescents and during the latter part of childhood. In tropical climates more adults contract the virus.
