Chicken Pox can be spread through two different ways. Either by contact with the saliva of the infected person through sneezing and coughing or by exposure to the fluid of the popped blisters. Chicken pox usually develops within 10 to 21 days after exposure. Once you have been exposed you can pass it on within 14 to 16 days. Before the development of the rash you are contagious for one to two days. When the blisters have all scabbed over within 4 to 5 days you are no longer contagious. Children with chicken pox should not go to school until blisters have scabbed over completely. With an infected member in the house you have a 90% chance of becoming infected, if you have never had chicken pox.
